The Constitution Party of South Carolina (https://scconstitutionparty.com/) invites students from South Carolina or who are attending a school in South Carolina to submit an essay for consideration of being selected for presentation to our state convention at 10 am on May 10 at the Taylors Public Library community room. A $200 honorarium will be given to those selected to speak who present that day.
The speech would be 10 to 15 minutes in length on a topic related to a plank in our platform of the student's choosing (see https://constitutionparty.com/platform/). In the speech the student would give an historical discussion of the political and economic philosophy of one or more writers who influenced the founding fathers, or were themselves participants in the debates in early American history, as such pertains to the plank, together with a discussion of its relevance and continuing validity today.
The presentation topic chosen would need to be narrow in scope. The level of presentation would be that of a good undergraduate term paper. An already written and submitted term paper for one of their classes would be welcomed as a submission by students. We understand that students are especially busy at this point in the spring semester.
Our party hopes to encourage young people to appreciate the heritage American citizens have in the political thought of the framers and in the formative documents of the United States. In this way, we would encourage them to think wisely about political issues and contribute to our contemporary political process. We also desire to give a hearing to students willing to think carefully about political matters.
Students are welcome to make submissions to
Chairman of the Constitution Party of South Carolina
Submissions should be made by May 1.
